This guide is organized into state regions, then set up alphabetically by county in each region.  Eighty-six restaurants are reviewed.  Each review begins with a basic listing of pertinent information--owner's names, highway directions, hours of operation, special menu availability, etc.--for quick reference.  The remainder of the review is dedicated to the history of the business and the food that is served.  Restaurants included in the book run the gamut from greasy spoon to elegant dining. Menus range from hot dogs to gourmet.
 

BRIAN KATONAK is an assistant solicitor in Anderson County, South Carolina, and adjunct professor at Lander University and Forrest Junior College.  He holds a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of South Carolina at Aiken and a degree in law from USC in Columbia. Born in Aiken, Katonak has been a lifelong resident of the Palmetto State.  Brian Katonak's mother, Lynne Katonak, who assisted in the research for the book, is a retired journalist with The Aiken Standard.
